Simulation Garden
Anna Huff’s first solo exhibition unfolds through movement, sound, and shared presence. Huff transforms the gallery into a living environment where works shift and respond as audiences engage in her world of techno-spiritualism. This immersive art experience promises to be as synthetic and cold as it is deeply emotionally resonant.
Storytellers
Storytellers is an exhibit featuring work from Traci Wright Martin, Gretta McCall, Brooks Harris Stevens, and Valerie Zimany examine storytelling as a visual practice.
Through material, process, and imagery, these artists reveal how women’s narratives are preserved and shared through contemporary art.
Thornback Gallery Annual Juried Show
Fractures and Repair
Thornback Gallery is pleased to announce our Second Annual Juried Exhibition, celebrating outstanding contemporary artwork across all media. "Fractures and Repair" explores cycles of rupture and renewal—how individuals and communities respond to harm, navigate conflict, and engage in acts of healing and reconstruction. This theme invites work that reflects on personal or collective struggle, transformation, and resilience.
This show offers artists the opportunity for professional exposure and cash awards, with all selections made through a blind jury process to ensure fairness and artistic integrity. A non-refundable fee of $30 enables each artist to enter up to two works. Please submit one digital image per work to be juried.

Kent Ambler’s layered woodcuts and mixed media works draw from the natural world, finding pattern and quiet movement in birds, branches, and landscapes. His compositions strike a balance between spontaneity and structure, offering a grounded sense of observation and presence.
Dot Matrix Floral
With a phone full of random gardens snapped on walks, a book of crayon sketches, and the clatter of printers from a former life informing his choices, Dana Jones turned to the 9-dot grid as a simple, accommodating structure for this project. Its symmetry and modular flexibility lent an organizing structure for further color exploration.

Pink Noise by Maggie Genoble and Jessica Swank
July 11, 2025 - August 17, 2025
Pink Noise explores the evolving relationship between the human body, digital technology, and societal norms, examining how identity is shaped—and often distorted—in the digital age. The exhibition draws its name from the ambient, calming sound of pink noise, suggesting how technology subtly masks, soothes, and reshapes our perceptions of self.
Featuring the work of Upstate South Carolina artists Jessica Swank and Maggie Genoble, Pink Noise brings together sculptural installations, digital works, photography, and mixed media pieces that interrogate the emotional and physical impact of digital environments.
Halcyon by Adam du Shole & Fragile by Claire Boyd Daniels
May 5, 2025-June 28, 2025
Join us for the opening of two poignant and deeply personal exhibitions at Thornback Gallery.
Adam du Shole’s Halcyon reflects on the nature of memory, movement, and the quiet grief of nostalgia. Each piece stands like a carefully arranged curio on a fireplace mantle—self-made tchotchkes drawn from a childhood of constant relocation. These works honor important places and fleeting moments, playing in the margins between celebration and sorrow. They ask: what becomes of our former lives as we move into the next? When we can pack so little, what do we bring?
Claire Boyd Daniels’ Fragile is a raw and luminous exploration of vulnerability. Created in moments of emotional reaching—like a prayer, or a cry in the dark—her works emerge from a place of deep personal reckoning. They are manifestations of grief and rage, love and shame, made visible in pigment and charcoal. For Daniels, art is both question and answer, a space to peel back layers of self and allow the inner world to expand. What was once whispered in the dark is now here, in the light—inviting you to witness, and perhaps to feel fragile too.
